Step inside a small artisan dairy in Beiarn, about 90 minutes south of Bodø. At 1839 Lokalmat, cheesemaker and part-time farmer Jørgen introduces you to the craft behind Beiarmat’s local cheeses. Work hands-on with warm milk and curd as you make your own cheese from start to finish. Learn how temperature, milk type, and traditional methods shape flavor, and hear what makes goat and cow cheese different. After the workshop, sit down for a tasting of Beiarmat cheeses with drinks, then join a short tour of the dairy and Lokalmathuset. You leave with the cheese you made, packed to take home.
